to do list for the next version of whatsikat

I’m working on the next version of whatsikat and here’s on my to-do list: 1. Make a logo! I’ve been asking my great artist friends but they’re too busy to help me out. Boo. I’m not much of a designer but I’ll give it my best shot. I’m currently toying with the “pawikan on sun” [...]

Make money by doing good deeds?

Berns from ideals-creatives showed me their latest video on youtube about social entrepreneurs. It’s a new concept to me– young entrepreneurs solving salient problems of society while trying to make a buck. Have a look at the video– they’re trying to raise awareness and get 100,000 views by the end of this month. To help [...]

Looking for chismis on google?

I am proud to say that whatsikat comes up on the top 5 results of google when you search for “pinoy chismis” ! But what does that mean? Nothing really… According to my logs, nobody has found whatsikat by searching for “pinoy chismis” anyway. hahaha!

Whatsikat Mobile: whatsikat.com/m

I’ve just finished whatsikat mobile edition , a low-bandwidth version perfect for viewing on internet-capable mobile devices like your PDA, PSP, Wii, iPhone or iTouch! Have a look and let me know what you think of http://whatsikat.com/m . I wonder… is there a directory of Pinoy websites that are mobile-device friendly?

Just Pinoy Celebrities

I made a special page just containing Filipino celebrity bloggers. After observing the traffic for almost a month, I must say that out of the 20+ “artista” blogs I monitor, Chuckie Dreyfus and Sitti Navarro are the hands-down most prolific writers. Minsan, nakakasawa na nga. But oh well… Check it out at http://whatsikat.com/celebs.php

10 visitors per day!

After four days of not visiting, not talking about and not promoting whatsikat, I now have an average of 10 readers per day! (That probably includes my mother and sister). Been mentioned on Philippine Advertising Gossip, Rickdog’s tumblr and two of my male (!) friends have told me that they’ve bookmarked me for their regular [...]

Feedback from a pro

Yesterday I sent a message to Iggy who I found via Cnet Asia’s blogs and within two hours, he responded with a critique of whatsikat. (He wasn’t kidding when his profile said online 24/7) Most of his comments talk about future enhancements and further functionality which is probably why he is the “business development officer” [...]

Beta testers say that this site is… overwhelming!

“Overwhelming” daw ang whatsikat. tsssss. I suspect that ‘information overload’ is more a function of design and perceived purpose rather than content. Because most people whom i’ve showed the site “perceive” that they must read everything, then they think it’s too much. But once I suggest to them that they should skim through it and [...]

Where are the Pinoy Web 2.0 innovations?

When I started working on whatsikat.com I started wondering what are the other pinoy versions of those popular “western” websites and here’s what I came up with. Maybe you can add some more… 1. digg.com -> pinoybee.com- konti pa lang yung users but it looks promising. I like the “hukayy.com” name better (but it has [...]
