Mi ultimo adios in LOLspeak
Jose Rizal’s Mi último adiós (My Last Farewell) has been translated into LOLspeak by M Sereno. Indolent Indio says: “It is, ultimately, indistinguishable from the original, which is fine, because you never really read the original anyway.” In case you’re curious, there’s also a LOLcat translation of the bible. Farewell, beloved Country, treasured region of the sun, Pearl of the sea of the Orient, our lost Eden! To you eagerly I surrender this sad and gloomy life; And were it brighter, fresher, more florid, Even then I’d give it to you, for your sake alone. In fields of battle, deliriously fighting, I die when I see the sky has unfurled its colors My dreams, when scarcely an adolescent, My lifelong dream, my deep burning desire, If upon my grave one day you see appear, Let the moon see me in a soft and tranquil light, Let the burning sun evaporate the rains, Pray for all the unfortunate ones who died, And when the cemetery is enveloped in dark night, And when my grave, then by all forgotten, Then nothing matters, cast me in oblivion. My idolized country, sorrow of my sorrows, Goodbye, dear parents, brother and sisters, fragments of my soul, |
