ABS-CBN remakes Twilight into Takipsilim
Perez Hilton says that ABS-CBN’s latest teleserye is Takipsilim, a clone of Twilight! “Actors Rayver Cruz and Shaina Magdayao will be portraying Edward and Isabella, respectively, in the ABS-CBN production which will treat the vampire love story as “drama, romance, and fantasy.”
Bryanboy thinks this is disgusting: “Here we go again. One of the networks produced Lipgloss earlier this year (or should I say LIPGROSS), which is pretty much a Gossip Girl rip-off and now, Takipsilim? A reader of mine (who is just as revolted as I am) from Chile pointed out that it’s worse because they’re doing it for television.“
Simplymanila doesn’t care about the critics: “I’m a twilight fan, and I won’t care if anybody tries to translate it in Filipino, in the same manner that I wouldn’t care if they translate it to Mandarin or French. I don’t think it will make the original Twilight a lesser piece of work. That’s no biggie. Stephenie Meyer will probably even increase her number of Filipino fans through this. Besides, there should be nothing to be ashamed of. In the civilized world, it is simple really: If anyone doesn’t like it, then don’t watch it.”
However Jepoy says this is a hoax and the whole thing was just concocted by a fan. (via iamsupercow)
Update 1: It’s not a hoax! According to ABS-CBN News:
“Initial reports said ABS-CBN paid $1 million with co-producer Ignite Media for the rights to the Twilight series.” …
Taping for the series will start February of next year. Some parts of the series will be shot abroad and the other locations include Tagaytay, Bukidnon and Baguio. The series will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
Update 2: ABS-CBN News retracts the story (thanks commenter meoquanee!):
“The duty editor who uploaded the story failed to check with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. whether the story was correct and accurate.
ABS-CBN Corp. Communications head Bong Osorio has since denied that the company will do a local remake of the movie, Twilight. “
Any REAL Twilight fan WILL NOT watch this.

“Walang Takipsilim” would be nice…
This is a stupid move made by the Abs-Cbn staff & company. They are doing the “strike while the iron is hot” to make money out of the 1 of the most interesting movies shown this year.” This movie will make an ass out of the actor and actress who will play the part of “Takipsilim” including the director (”i don’t know if he can pull this off”). The poor special effects used on our local movies will also show the difference and it will kill the movie. A bummer!

I love Twilight, all of you know that, but this is totally crazy!!!!!!! C’mon how can they pull off something so big like this. And the cast, Rayver is so not Edward material, Shaina? well she looks kindda too old for Bella. Maybe im just caught up dun sa movie, but almost all the filipino Twilighters aren’t excited for this project at all, in fact i signed up for this petition, it’s about stoping the production.It’s not schocking na they will remake it pero iba naman to sa mga koreanovela like My Girl.
If no one watches it they will postpone it di ba? hehehe
So, series ang gagawin nila, this mean they will have to do all the scenes in the book and they shouldn’t copy anything from the movies and of course they will have to consult Stephenie Meyer about the scenes, and have her go signal for it.
Wala pa akong nababasa sa site ni Stephenie pero hopefully they will not embarass our country.
