There’s nothing funny about having a perfume canister removed from your rectum
A man was admitted into a hospital in Cebu to have a perfume canister stuck in his rectum surgically removed. Hilarity ensues. Doctors, nurses whip out cellphones to take video which is then uploaded into youtube. Patient sues, hospital apologizes.
- bugitsrespos has some screenshots from the now-defunct video.
- ApplesH asks bloggers: Where’s the outrage??? - “I expected something similar (or more) to the ruckus caused by the Desperate Housewives comment about Filipino doctors or by the comment about OFWs in an article by Malu Fernandez or to the video of the teacher making love with a student.“
- iLovePinoys shows us an article from the Sun Star that reveals some youtube userids of those involved. There’s an apology on joarcfranz’s profile: “I uploaded that video for i want Justice to the patient and i know his identity will be kept, for his face was not shown on that video! Infact, i didnt laughed when i saw the video! it was more of a redicule for me! Guess you just misunderstood everything. The one who edited the video really puts the blame on me! but it wasnt my intention. You just dont know how it feels like to be treated like that! people think that were abnormal citizens of the society but we are not! AND I WANT TO SAY SORRY FOR UPLOADING IT AND VIOLATING THE PRIVACY OF THE PATIENT.“
- RebelMind’s editorial puts it succinctly:
The humiliation, therefore, was less on Jan-Jan and more on the concerned medical team, the hospital and, had the YouTube footage not been deleted, on the country’s medical profession.
The perfume canister in the anus was not the joke; the medical team’s lack of professionalism was.
